Microsoft biodiversity garden

In 2020, Microsoft called on Skyfarms to imagine a biodiversity garden for the terrasse of their innovation centre. The challenge included: finding plants adapted to a shaded city environnement, integrating the latest innovations from Microsoft in life sciences and artificial intelligence. The project that was chosen involves the recreation of several iconic Belgian ecosystems in wooden containers: the Hall forest, the Adrenne forest, the Hautes Fagnes wetlands, the flower meadows. We recreated the soil conditions and plants as well as possible and installed bird and insect shelters to help them settle the garden. A sensor and HD camera system monitors the garden to document and analyse its evolution.
